Shortness of BreathBy
With the pollen season behind us we should see a dramatic decrease in the amount of patients with shortness of breath. The Asthma patient has suffered dearly this past Spring for the pollen counts were extremely elevated. The Hospital in Macon Georgia was overwhelmed with approximately 600 cases of dyspnea in a 24 hour period. The Hospital staff was working overtime giving breathing treatments to the patients who were literally lining the hall ways. In no way were the Nurses prepared for the amount of patients suffering shortness of breath. As a side note, many of these victims have been advised that they should stay inside for the pollen season as to reduce their risk of exposure. Finally, should you suffer from respiratory distress, you should always call the 911 center and request an ambulance as soon as possible.
